In recent years, advances in genetic and microbiology resulted in the production of considerable amount of biological information. Exchanging, handling and storing this information are very important and necessary in terms of both providing understandability and allowing further enhancements on the gathered data. As a result of this necessity, many models were developed in order to cluster the biological data in a meaningful manner under a semantically reasonable hierarchy. With the development of such models, the need for software tools to visualize and interpret those models emerged. Most of the existing tools are either not comprehensive enough to represent the model or too complex to learn and use. VISIBIOweb is a web-based graph visualization service for one of the most popular pathway models, BioPAX (Biological Pathway Exchange), which aims to provide a user friendly interface and detailed representation of the biological model. The server side is built on GEF (Graphical Editing Framework) and the client side visualization is provided via extending Google Maps API.
